Now that you know which steps to follow when slicing a ham, we would like to share with you a selection of original and creative recipes by the chef Clara Saura for your special occasions…
First of all, it is important to have a clear idea of the occasion for which the recipes are going to be made, as the amount to be prepared and the presentation can vary depending on the occasion.
Of course, these recipes have a common ingredient: ham. It is good to know which type of ham best suits each occasion. In previous posts we talked about whether it is better to buy a shoulder or a ham depending on the situation and consumption. We also gave you three tips that can be useful if you decide to buy a sliced and packaged ham.
So let’s get started! Here you have a simple, tasty and fresh recipe:
Melon with Iberian ham
Ingredients:
- ½ melon
- 8 slices of acorn-fed Iberian ham
- 8 sprouts of mint leaves
- Optional: pistachios (to decorate)
Technical support:
A Parisian spoon, some skewers of about 12 cm and a flat and elongated dish.
Elaboration:
Make 8 melon balls using the parisian spoon.
Roll up the slices of ham – it would be great if they were long and not too wide.
Assemble the skewers in the following way: first the mint, then the ham and finally the melon, so that the melon is at the base of the skewer, as you can see in the picture.
Serve with some toasted and chopped pistachios.
Bon appetit!
Some suggestions:
Do not assemble the skewers too in advance, as that would make the ham be moistened due to the water from the melon.
To keep the mint fresh, as well as all aromatic herbs, we recommend you to store it with absorbent paper in the freezer.
In the next post you will be able to discover another succulent recipe and some tips.
PD*: Here is the Iberian ice cream for its flavor, it pairs perfectly with melo, so another combination is always valid.
